Review: According to its website, HostPapa purchases RECs (renewable energy credits) equivalent to 100% of their electricity usage. The RECs are generated at wind and solar installations in the US and Canada. HostPapa is also a participant in Canada’s EcoLogo Program (similar to the US green-e certification program). Concerns: At the present time, HostPapa’s site is significantly lacking in terms of transparency, verification or specific data. For example, it is unclear from whom HostPapa purchased their RECs (without knowing this, we are unable to verify that their RECs are indeed green-e certified).
